    No one likes cheaters, which is why to help prevent potential cheats, Niantic has recently decided to block the popular Pokemon GO from running on rooted Android phones. How this works is apparently the app will scan your phone's internal storage system to see if your phone shows signs of having been rooted. If it has then you will be locked out from the game.     If you're reading TouchArcade as an iOS user, this likely is none of your concern but it still marks an interesting move from Niantic. Basically, on the Android side of the fence, rooting your phone is fairly common amongst power users. It's effectively the Android equivalent of Jailbreaking, but is infinitely easier (and more or less encouraged by Android enthusiasts). The best comparison I've heard for rooting is like running Windows as an administrator.
